Angkor Hospital for Children
Cambodia
Clinical Setting
Children's Hospital in Siem Reap, Cambodia which acts as a primary site for underserved population and is a safety net site for Siem Reap's children.
The Ultrasound Program
Emergency Ultrasound is primarily used in the ED/ICU setting for pediatric patients.
Maintenance of Training and Quality Assurance
Pediatric Faculty members are trained by ultrasound faculty at UMass Memorial Medical Center through onsite lectures and hands on training. UMass Ultrasound Faculty members travel to Siem Reap about 3-4 times per year for onsite education. UMass also runs a robust daily quality assurance process through a home grown web based system that provides real time response to questions and evaluation of quality of scans. Angkor Hospital for Childrens' faculty scan numbers are tracked and lectures are targeted toward their specific needs in pediatric emergency ultrasound.
Supplies Needed
We need volunteers to give lectures on site and to continue the hands on education in Cambodia. As the faculty in Cambodia are becoming quite advanced, there is a need for equipment update.
