Welcome to Tactical and Law Enforcement Medicine

The Mission of the Tactical and Law Enforcement Medicine Section (TALEM) is to provide a forum for physicians and others who have an interest or expertise in Tactical Medicine. Section members can share information and help others in ACEP and external organizations to develop and maintain expertise in this unique and challenging subspecialty. The key goal is to enhance section member’s abilities to competently provide tactical medical support for those professionals involved in high threat law enforcement tactical operations and military special ops, and provide life-saving medical interventions for anyone in need at training or critical incidents in our communities.

What is Tactical and Law Enforcement Medicine?

Tactical Medicine, or Tactical and Law Enforcement Medicine, is the medical specialty that involves the services and emergency medical support necessary to preserve the safety, physical and mental health, and overall well-being of military and law enforcement (SWAT) special operations (tactical) personnel and others at the scene of critical incident deployments and training.
