A Message to ACEP Residents from Maggie Moran, MD

- [Moran] Hi, I'm Maggie Moran. The emergency medicine residence association, director of health policy.

Getting involved in advocacy through EMRA and ACEP has opened my eyes to the many challenges that our specialty faces. Today and in the future, Congress has the power to impact every area of our practice. From reimbursement, workforce, resources we need like expanded telehealth and PPE during pandemic, to making sure that the playing field is leveled with insurers. It's all within Congress's purview.

The good news is, that we have the power to influence who is elected to Congress, through our political action committee, NEMPAC. NEMPAC, is a bipartisan fund, through which we can educate legislators and help elect friends of and champions of emergency medicine and patients. Only ACEP members, can donate to NEMPAC. So, we are only as effective, as the support that is behind us. As residents, our plate is full, but we can make a difference in our future through one simple action. Please join me and thousands of EMRA and ACEP members in supporting NEMPAC. It's not how much you give, our strength is in the numbers.

NEMPAC is bipartisan. We look for candidates based on their record of support, on emergency medicine issues and their willingness to work with us. Not because of their party affiliation. Although, we've been busy on the front lines, taking care patients, there is no medical specialty out there, that has more to gain through having a strong voice in Washington DC. For our future and for our patients. Can I count on?
