National Conference on Wilderness Medicine (Santa Fe)
The National Conference on Wilderness Medicine addresses practice gaps in knowledge and competence by preparing physicians in basic aspects of improvised care, rescue, and evacuation. This course helps establish a set of treatment priorities for care of the sick or injured in wilderness settings. The course allows participants to recognize the pathophysiology and treatment of a variety of medical problems commonly encountered in wilderness environments and setting remote from hospital or definitive care. "Field skills" are demonstrated and performed to enable physicians to provide emergency care in remote settings.
